OpenAI Announces Internet Browsing Capability for ChatGPT Users

OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, has announced that ChatGPT can now browse the internet, eliminating its previous September 2021 knowledge cutoff. Websites will have control over how ChatGPT interacts with their content.

Currently available to Plus and Enterprise users, the Browsing with Bing feature will soon roll out to all users. This update follows OpenAI’s recent voice and image interaction capabilities, making ChatGPT more competitive with AI assistants like Apple’s Siri.

OpenAI previously tested a similar browsing feature for ChatGPT Plus, but it was discontinued due to concerns about bypassing paywalls.

With 100 million monthly users earlier this year, ChatGPT’s rapid growth continues to attract investors. Reports indicate that OpenAI is in talks to sell existing shares at a much higher valuation than before.
