
Access Bank’s recent core banking upgrade has left many customers facing service disruptions, with issues like failed USSD transactions, missing transaction histories, and app malfunctions. Despite a phased approach meant to prevent major downtime, users continue to report problems days after the final upgrade on February 23, 2025.
The bank, which invested ₦68.62 billion ($51.3 million) in tech infrastructure, aims for digital expansion across Africa, but these disruptions raise concerns about execution. Access Bank has yet to publicly address customer complaints, highlighting the challenges of large-scale banking upgrades.
