Google to Double Google Drive Subscription Price for Nigerian Users Amid Rising Costs

Google is set to double the subscription price for its 100GB Google Drive storage plan in Nigeria, increasing the cost from ₦950 to ₦1,900 per month. The new pricing will take effect on March 28, 2025, as part of a broader adjustment affecting several African countries, including Egypt, Ghana, and Tanzania.

Google One, which provides cloud storage for Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, has become essential for users managing digital files. While Google has not specified the exact reasons for the price hike, rising operational costs and currency fluctuations are likely contributing factors. This increase follows a trend of rising costs in Nigeria, where telecom providers like MTN and Airtel have raised tariffs, and pay TV service Multichoice has increased DSTV and GOtv subscription fees.

Nigerian users relying on Google Drive for storage may need to reassess their plans and budgets before the new pricing takes effect.
