From Warri to Sydney: Oghenerukevwe Odjugo’s Journey in Global Finance

Oghenerukevwe Odjugo, an equity analyst at Schroders, has built an impressive career that spans Nigeria, the UK, Egypt, and Australia. Starting with a passion for mathematics, she strategically pursued a career in finance and investments, earning a first-class degree in accounting from Covenant University before securing a scholarship to Loughborough University for her master’s.

Her path was far from linear—she applied to multiple firms before landing a role at Schroders in London through the 100 Black Interns program. When an opportunity arose in Australia, she seized it, moving to Sydney in a decision that would define the next phase of her career.

As an equity analyst, Odjugo spends her days analyzing stock market trends, particularly in tech, mining, education, and payments. While her career is fast-paced, she ensures work-life balance, engaging in activities like yoga, Zumba, squash, and travel.

Beyond her job, she is passionate about financial literacy, having created The Beginner Investor, a newsletter that simplifies investing for young professionals.

Her advice to aspiring global professionals? “Be excellent where you are. If you are the best at what you do, you can compete globally.”
