MTN Group and Airtel Africa have signed a network-sharing agreement in Nigeria and Uganda to reduce operational costs and expand mobile coverage. This strategic move comes as both telecom giants face financial pressures due to currency devaluation and economic challenges, particularly in Nigeria, their biggest market. By sharing towers, base stations, and fiber-optic networks, the companies aim to manage expenses while improving connectivity in underserved areas.

If successful, this deal may set a precedent for broader infrastructure-sharing initiatives on the continent.
