Tunisie Telecom Launches 5G Services, Marking a Major Milestone

Tunisie Telecom has officially launched its 5G-NSA (non-stand-alone) services, providing enhanced mobile broadband and Fixed Wireless Access to residential users. The rollout, which began on February 14, uses a mix of 3.5 GHz frequency and repurposed 4G bands (2100 and 1800 MHz) to achieve download speeds of up to 2.1 Gbps.

This launch is a first for Tunisia, utilizing the 3.5 GHz band to improve speed and coverage. Ericsson partnered with Tunisie Telecom to meet the government’s ambitious timeline, further supporting Tunisia’s Digital Strategy 2025.

Meanwhile, Egyptian telecom operators are still in the preparation phase for 5G, with Telecom Egypt and e& Egypt conducting trials but yet to roll out commercial services.
