Africa Bitcoin Corporation has announced that its securities will be transferred from the AltX segment of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange to the exchange\u2019s Main Board, marking a major milestone for the fast-growing Bitcoin treasury and SME-finance company. The move, which takes effect on May 22, 2026, signals the company\u2019s ambition to strengthen its visibility among institutional investors and expand its footprint across global capital markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company, formerly known as Altvest Capital, has spent the last year repositioning itself as one of Africa\u2019s first publicly traded Bitcoin-focused firms. Through its rebranding to Africa Bitcoin Corporation (ABC), <\/a>the company adopted a strategy centred on Bitcoin treasury accumulation, alternative finance, and SME funding solutions across the continent. According to the company\u2019s latest announcement, the transfer to the Main Board follows a successful restructuring of its ordinary share capital earlier this year. ABC said the share subdivision was designed to help the company meet the minimum capital requirements needed for broader exchange participation and enhanced international trading opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Main Board listing will include the company\u2019s ordinary shares as well as its Preferred A, Preferred B, and Preferred C shares. The securities will trade under the same stock codes already used on the exchange. The migration also means that Questco Corporate Advisory, currently serving as the company\u2019s designated advisor, will become the company\u2019s official JSE sponsor from the transfer date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upgrade is expected to improve ABC\u2019s credibility among larger institutional investors, pension funds, and asset managers that often prefer Main Board-listed companies because of their stronger liquidity, governance standards, and broader market exposure. Analysts say the move could also increase trading activity in the company\u2019s shares and improve access to long-term funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Africa Bitcoin Corporation has positioned itself as a pioneer in regulated Bitcoin exposure on the African continent. The company is already listed across several exchanges and trading platforms, including the JSE, A2X Markets, the Namibian Stock Exchange, the OTCQB Venture Market in the United States, and Germany\u2019s Deutsche B\u00f6rse platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm has also drawn attention for its ambitious Bitcoin treasury strategy. Earlier this year, ABC disclosed that it held just over 5 BTC on its balance sheet and had set a long-term goal of accumulating 21,000 BTC by 2030. While still early in its accumulation journey, the company believes Bitcoin can serve as a strategic reserve asset that supports financial innovation and capital formation across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
