InterSpace Distribution is expanding its position in the global music-technology market with a more formal corporate structure and the launch of ToneGrid, a white-label platform designed to help music distributors, record labels and aggregators operate their own branded distribution businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ToneGrid is built as a business-to-business infrastructure product rather than a consumer-facing music distribution service. It provides the technology needed to manage music ingestion, digital-service-provider delivery, royalty accounting, analytics and other parts of the distribution process under a client\u2019s own brand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development reflects a broader shift in music distribution. As independent artists and labels continue to grow, more businesses want to build their own distribution operations without investing heavily in the underlying technology and complex relationships required to deliver music to streaming platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ToneGrid addresses that gap through a white-label model. Clients can use their own logos, colours, domains, email templates and artist portals, while ToneGrid operates in the background. The platform says clients can deliver music to more than 220 digital service providers, while its infrastructure also supports royalty splits, analytics, fraud detection and automated distribution workflows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The formalisation of InterSpace\u2019s structure is significant because ToneGrid is not being developed as an isolated software product. InterSpace Distribution Limited is the legal entity behind the platform and already operates as a music distribution business. According to ToneGrid, this means the company has direct experience with the operational challenges faced by distributors and labels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That experience is reflected in the platform\u2019s architecture. ToneGrid is designed as a multi-tenant system, allowing different businesses to operate separate branded environments while using the same underlying infrastructure. Each tenant can have its own branding, payment configuration, users and data environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform also gives distributors control over artist onboarding, catalogue management and royalty statements. This could be particularly useful for smaller and regional music companies that want to compete with larger distribution businesses without building an entire technology stack from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ToneGrid entered public beta in April 2026 following more than two years of infrastructure development and integration work. InterSpace said the platform was initially being opened to distributors, labels and aggregators, with general availability planned for later in the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has also been strengthening the technology behind the platform. In May, ToneGrid announced a partnership with ACRCloud<\/a> to add audio recognition and music-intelligence capabilities, including tools designed to identify potentially unauthorised or derivative content before distribution.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For InterSpace, the strategy represents a move beyond traditional music distribution. Instead of only distributing music for artists and labels, the company is building infrastructure that allows other businesses to become distributors themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
