Tanzanian technology startups are being invited to apply for the Africa Blockchain Festival (ABF)<\/a> Fellowship Programme 2026, creating an opportunity for founders to connect with investors, mentors, technology leaders and other entrepreneurs from across the continent. The fellowship will take place alongside the Africa Blockchain Festival from October 15 to 17, 2026, at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite its blockchain-focused name, the fellowship is open to a much broader range of technology businesses. Eligible sectors include artificial intelligence, fintech, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, digital payments, digital identity, healthtech, climate technology, mobility, software-as-a-service and other areas of digital innovation. The organisers say founders do not need previous blockchain or Web3 experience to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Tanzanian founders, the programme offers a pathway to expand beyond the local startup ecosystem and build relationships across African markets. Selected fellows will have opportunities to interact with investors, policymakers, enterprise leaders, potential commercial partners and fellow founders during the Nairobi gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme’s investor ecosystem includes Antler and Launch Africa Ventures. Both firms are participating in the broader fellowship process, including startup evaluation and engagement with founders. Antler is also expected to contribute a technical startup workshop, while the two investment firms will participate in judging the fellowship pitch competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This investor exposure could be particularly useful for startups preparing to raise capital. Founders can gain insight into how early-stage investors assess areas such as the strength of a founding team, the size of a market, product differentiation, traction and the ability to scale. These considerations are also reflected in ABF’s published fellowship assessment framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fellowship is also designed to provide benefits beyond the three-day festival. According to ABF, fellows can gain access to its wider community, investor-facing sessions, business matchmaking, the ABFLabs venture-studio pipeline and year-round alumni engagement. Selected participants may also receive support for flights, accommodation and meals depending on the fellowship pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme arrives as Tanzania continues efforts to strengthen its technology and innovation ecosystem. Recent industry events and initiatives have increasingly focused on helping local entrepreneurs move from ideas and early products toward commercially sustainable businesses and regional expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For startups, the opportunity is therefore not limited to blockchain. A Tanzanian founder building an AI platform, fintech product, healthtech solution or other technology business can use the fellowship to present the company to a wider African audience and develop connections that may support future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, participation should not be viewed as a guaranteed route to funding. ABF states that selection into the fellowship, investor exposure or participation in its ecosystem does not guarantee investment or other financial support. Funding decisions remain subject to individual investors’ processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With applications being reviewed on a rolling basis, the fellowship gives Tanzanian technology founders an opportunity to position their businesses within a wider African innovation network and explore partnerships, mentorship and potential investment opportunities beyond their home market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
