For users holding digital dollars such as USDC and USDT, the next question is what those balances can earn while they remain unused. Raenest is addressing that gap with Stablecoin Vault, a new product that allows users to earn variable yield on their stablecoin balances.

The fintech says Stablecoin Vault lets customers deposit USDC or USDT and have the assets deployed through decentralised finance (DeFi) protocols to generate returns. The product is powered by Gauntlet, a risk-management and DeFi strategy provider.

The launch extends Raenest’s growing stablecoin infrastructure. Users can already receive, hold, send, convert and spend USDC and USDT through dedicated stablecoin wallets. The company supports deposits across networks including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Tron and Solana.

With Stablecoin Vault, Raenest is adding another layer: earning. Instead of leaving stablecoins idle in a wallet, users can move them into the Vault, where the funds are deployed through DeFi strategies. Interest begins accruing 24 hours after a deposit is completed, and earned interest is automatically added to the Vault balance, allowing returns to compound over time.

The minimum deposit is 100 USDC or 100 USDT. Raenest currently displays estimated rates of up to 5% annually, although the company makes clear that this is not a guaranteed return. The actual rate can change from day to day depending on market conditions and the performance of the underlying strategies.

That variable structure is important because Stablecoin Vault is fundamentally different from a conventional fixed-interest savings account. According to Raenest’s terms, deposited assets may be deployed through protocols including Morpho, Aave, Compound and Pendle, with Gauntlet providing risk-management and strategy-related services.

The product also fits into Raenest’s broader push to make stablecoins useful across the entire money-management cycle. Users can receive international payments in USDC or USDT, convert them into currencies such as USD, NGN, GBP and EUR, spend directly through the Raenest card, or move eligible balances into the Vault to pursue returns.

For African freelancers, remote workers and businesses receiving international payments, the development could make stablecoin balances more functional. Instead of treating digital dollars purely as a payment rail, Raenest is positioning them as assets that can be held and potentially generate income.

However, the yield comes with risks. Raenest states that Stablecoin Vault returns are not guaranteed and that the funds are not covered by deposit insurance. Because the product relies on DeFi protocols and smart contracts, users face risks associated with those underlying systems and market conditions.

The significance of Stablecoin Vault therefore goes beyond another yield product. Raenest is attempting to connect payments, stablecoin storage, spending and wealth-building within one financial platform—turning digital dollars from money that simply moves across borders into money that can potentially work while it sits still.

Stablecoins are increasingly becoming more than a tool for moving money across borders.
