The platform combines short assignments, interactive missions and redeemable rewards to encourage users to develop abilities that could improve their career prospects while earning additional income.

Founded by Jessie Udah, Bravoo evolved from Flowva, an earlier product whose users showed greater interest in earning rewards and developing skills than in its original organisational tools. This feedback inspired the team to create a platform focused on practical learning and financial incentives.

The platform allows users to complete short missions lasting approximately two to five minutes. These activities cover areas such as digital skills, design and artificial intelligence prompting. Participants learn a concept, complete a practical task and submit their work for review.

According to TechCabal, the original rewards model awarded users between 10 and 50 coins per task, redeemable for items such as airtime, mobile data and gadgets. Bravoo’s current app also advertises cash rewards, gift cards and other prizes, giving users tangible incentives to continue learning.

The approach addresses a challenge facing many young Africans: acquiring employable skills while managing the financial pressures of everyday life. Traditional education and online courses can require significant time and money, while some learners struggle to remain motivated when the benefits of training are not immediately visible.

By introducing rewards, Bravoo attempts to make skill development more engaging and accessible. Its model is particularly relevant to students, job seekers, career changers and young people looking for additional income opportunities.

However, rewards alone cannot guarantee professional competence or employment. The platform’s long-term value will depend on the quality of its learning materials, the usefulness of its assignments and whether the skills acquired translate into opportunities in the workplace.

Bravoo also faces the challenge of building a sustainable business model. Its founder previously indicated plans to keep the platform free during its early years, with potential revenue from brand partnerships, affiliate arrangements and advertising. These commercial relationships could help finance rewards and support the company’s expansion.

The startup’s broader ambition is to connect learning with action. Rather than measuring progress solely through course completion, its approach encourages users to demonstrate what they have learned through practical assignments.

For Nigeria and the wider African market, where youth employment and access to relevant digital training remain important concerns, such models could offer an additional route to skills development.

Bravoo’s success will depend on whether it can move beyond rewarding participation to helping users build lasting, marketable abilities. If it succeeds, the platform could demonstrate how gamification and financial incentives can make digital learning more accessible, engaging and valuable for young Africans.

Bravoo, a Nigerian edtech startup, is developing a different approach to digital education by rewarding young people for learning practical skills.
