Meta, in collaboration with Nigeria’s Federal Government (FG), has launched the ”Llama Accelerator Programme” to harness AI for addressing national challenges. The initiative focuses on fostering the development and deployment of solutions powered by Meta’s open-source large language model, Llama3. It aims to support local startups, developers, and researchers in building AI-powered products that tackle key issues in education, agriculture, healthcare, and governance.

Unveil in Abuja, the Llama Accelerator is part of Meta’s boarder commitment to expanding AI access and innovation across Africa. Through this partnership, the government seeks to create an enabling environment for AI-driven solutions that address local problems, boost digital economy growth, and increase employment opportunities.

The accelerator will offer selected participants mentorship, technical support, and funding opportunities .
