Cybastion Institute of Technology, a U.S.-based cybersecurity and digital transformation firm, has announced a $170 million partnership with Angola Telecom, the state-owned telecommunications provider of Angola. The investment aims to significantly enhance Angola’s digital infrastructure, cybersecurity capabilities, and national data sovereignty.
The agreement was formalized during the U.S.-Africa Business Summit held in Dallas, Texas, marking a major milestone in U.S.-Africa technological collaboration. The partnership aligns with Angola’s broader digital transformation agenda and the U.S. government’s push to foster strategic partnerships with African nations in critical sectors like cybersecurity, telecommunications, and digital economy development.
Under this initiative, Cybastion will help Angola Telecom modernize its digital backbone and strengthen its cybersecurity systems to protect national data and public digital services. The investment will be deployed across several critical areas: upgrading data centers, improving broadband access, implementing secure digital platforms, and training local professionals in cybersecurity and IT skills. These efforts are intended to foster greater national control over digital infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign technologies.
Cybastion’s CEO, Dr. Jean-Jacques Yemo, emphasized that the project is designed to empower Angola to manage its digital assets independently while creating local employment opportunities and transferring vital knowledge. Angolan officials, including representatives from Angola Telecom, praised the partnership as a step forward in achieving technological autonomy and fostering sustainable digital growth.
This deal is part of a larger set of agreements totaling over $1 billion signed by Cybastion with various African governments. The Angola project stands out for its comprehensive approach, combining technological upgrades with human capital development and institutional strengthening.
