MTN apologises for network challenges but offers no explanation 

MTN Nigeria has apologized to customers following network disruptions in parts of Lagos State on February 8. While services have now been restored, the company did not provide an explanation for the outage.

Many affected users took to social media to express frustration over call drops, slow internet speeds, and unreliable connections. Some experts speculate that frequent fibre cuts—up to 80 daily—could be a major cause, alongside inadequate infrastructure investments.

To address these challenges, the Federal Government designated telecom infrastructure as critical national infrastructure in August 2024, making it illegal to damage telecom assets. Additionally, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved tariff increases to help telcos improve network services, though improvements may take time.
