The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is positioning itself at the forefront of Nigeria’s Fourth Industrial Revolution with its recent relocation to the Abuja Technology Village (ATV). This move signifies a major strategic step toward achieving the agency’s mandate of driving innovation, technology development, and industrialization across Nigeria.
NASENI’s transition into the Abuja Technology Village is not merely a change in physical location but a deliberate push to embed itself within Nigeria’s premier science and technology ecosystem. The ATV, designed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), hosts a range of high-tech research and development institutions, making it an ideal hub for NASENI to collaborate with local and international partners. The proximity to academia, private sector innovators, and global investors is expected to accelerate the agency’s innovation capacity.
Under the leadership of Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Khalil Suleiman Halilu, NASENI has amplified its efforts to spearhead indigenous technology development. The agency is now actively implementing projects and programs focused on key areas such as renewable energy, robotics, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, electric vehicles, and precision manufacturing. These technologies are essential components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and crucial for Nigeria’s economic diversification and competitiveness in the global market.
The Abuja Technology Village will serve as a central base for these initiatives, providing NASENI with access to cutting-edge infrastructure, research networks, and a skilled workforce. The move is also part of a broader federal government strategy to harness science and technology as the engine of growth and sustainable development.
Additionally, NASENI’s presence in ATV aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of achieving self-reliance in science, technology, and innovation. It reinforces efforts to transform Nigeria from a consumer economy into a producer economy, capable of manufacturing its own tools, machines, and technological solutions.
Through this relocation, NASENI aims to become a launchpad for homegrown innovations, industrial clusters, and high-tech startups, thus catalyzing job creation, wealth generation, and national technological advancement. The agency’s renewed focus and strategic positioning mark a new chapter in Nigeria’s journey toward technological sovereignty and economic transformation.
