Namibia Secures Satellite Deal to Expand National Broadcast Coverage.

This initiative supports Namibia’s broader agenda of digital inclusion and equitable access to information.

Namibia’s Central Procurement Board (CPBN) has approved a N$121 million investment in a satellite capacity deal with Intelsat to ensure nationwide access to digital broadcasting services. The agreement, signed with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, aims to enhance signal distribution and ensure that all Namibians, including those in remote and underserved areas, can access television and radio services. This move supports the country’s digital migration efforts and aligns with its broader goals of promoting information access and national development. The partnership with Intelsat, a global satellite operator, will guarantee reliable satellite coverage and improve the quality of public broadcasting. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive communication infrastructure. The N$121 million allocated covers a multi-year contract and is part of a larger national effort to expand access to essential information and promote social and economic inclusion through media.
