“Côte d’Ivoire Launches Digital Tourism Platform to Boost Global Appeal and Sector Governance
Côte d’Ivoire has unveiled a major digital initiative aimed at transforming its tourism industry, signaling a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international competitiveness. The Ministry of Tourism and Leisure, in partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), launched a strategic collaboration to develop a national digital tourism platform. This effort is part of the government’s broader vision to modernize and promote Côte d’Ivoire as a top travel destination in West Africa.
The initiative focuses on digital transformation, improved data management, and enhanced visitor experiences. At the core of the plan is the creation of a smart tourism ecosystem that will enable better coordination between stakeholders, including government agencies, tour operators, hoteliers, and local communities. The platform will serve as a digital hub for tourism information, marketing, and service delivery, offering real-time insights and promoting the country’s cultural, natural, and historical attractions.
Key features include the use of big data, AI, and geolocation technologies to personalize tourist experiences and boost operational efficiency. It also aims to improve decision-making and resource allocation by providing accurate statistics and analytics. The project aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s 2030 tourism strategy, which targets sustainable growth, job creation, and a diversified economy.
UNWTO’s support will ensure that the initiative follows international standards and benefits from global expertise. During the launch event in Abidjan, both parties emphasized the importance of embracing digital solutions to drive resilience and innovation in the post-pandemic tourism landscape.
This digital push marks a turning point in Côte d’Ivoire’s tourism sector, aiming to make it more inclusive, competitive, and future-ready. With this strategic pact, the country positions itself as a regional leader in digital tourism, leveraging technology to unlock its full tourism potential and deliver long-term socio-economic benefits.
