TelCables Nigeria has urged stakeholders across West Africa to embrace remote peering as a critical step toward achieving faster, more reliable, and cost-effective internet connectivity. As a subsidiary of Angola Cables, the company emphasized that the region’s rapid digital growth calls for innovative solutions to close infrastructure gaps and boost service delivery.
Remote peering enables internet service providers (ISPs), enterprises, and digital businesses to connect seamlessly to global internet exchange points (IXPs) without the need for physical presence at those locations. This approach allows organizations to access major cloud services, content providers, and global partners more efficiently. According to TelCables, the result is lower lantercy, improved equality of service, and reduced operational costs.
The company noted that West Africa is experiencing an explosion in internet demand, fueled by cloud adoption, e-commerce, and remote work. However, reliance on traditional transit models often leads to higher costs and longer data travel times. By adopting remote peering, businesses and ISPs can bypass these challenges and deliver faster, more stable connections to end users.
In addition to enhancing performance, remote peering helps create a level playing feild. Smaller ISPs and enterprises gain access to the same interconnection benefits enjoyed by larger players, driving inclusivity and competitiveness in the region’s digital economy. This, TelCables argued, is vital for sustaining growth and enabling more people and businesses to participate in Africa’s expanding digital marketplace.
TelCables reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with governments, regulators, and technology stakeholders to expand the availability of remote peering services. The company believes the solution will be a cornerstone in transforming West Africa into a globally connected digital hub, unlocking new opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and collaboration.
