In a strategic move to broaden its footprint beyond travel, Wakanow Group, one of Africa’s leading travel-tech companies, has acquired Nairabox, a digital ticketing and lifestyle platform based in Nigeria.
This acquisition marks Wakanow’s official entry into the entertainment and lifestyle space, signaling a shift toward becoming a full-fledged experience platform. NairaBox, best known for its digital ticketing services for movies, concerts, and events, will now be integrated into Wakanow’s growing ecosystem of consumer services.
According to Wakanow CEO Bayo Adedeji, the deal is part of a larger vision to enrich how consumers not only travel but also engage with culture and entertainment. “We’re not just moving people from one place to another — we want to shape how they live, explore, and enjoy their journeys,” Adedeji said.
Tobi Andero has been appointed Head of Business for NairaBox, bringing his expertise in experiential marketing to lead the integration and growth of the platform under Wakanow.
The acquisition complements Wakanow’s existing portfolio, which includes travel financing (Kalabash), accommodation (RoomDe), payment solutions (Pointview), and more. With NairaBox now in the fold, Wakanow is positioning itself as a lifestyle super app — a one-stop platform for travel, payments, and now entertainment.
Though the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, industry watchers see this as a smart move to capture more customer value in Africa’s rapidly evolving digital economy. By blending travel with entertainment, Wakanow is betting on a future where convenience, experience, and integration drive consumer loyalty.
