North Africa’s health insurance sector is set for a major digital overhaul as SehaTech, a Tunisian healthtech startup, secures $1.1 million in seed funding to modernize the region’s fragmented healthcare and insurance infrastructure. The round, backed by a consortium of regional investors, marks a significant milestone for the company as it aims to bridge the long-standing gap between insurers, healthcare providers, and patients through technology.
Founded in 2021, SehaTech was built around a simple yet ambitious vision: to make health insurance more efficient, transparent, and accessible. The startup’s platform integrates directly with hospitals, clinics, and insurance providers, enabling real-time claims processing, digital policy management, and data-driven decision-making. By doing so, SehaTech seeks to eliminate the paperwork-heavy systems that have long plagued the region’s healthcare networks.
Health insurance in many North African countries still operates through manual, outdated processes, resulting in delays, fraud, and inefficiencies that affect both patients and providers. SehaTech’s technology simplifies these interactions by offering end-to-end digital solutions — from electronic claims submission to automated fraud detection and policy tracking. For insurers, this means faster turnaround times and reduced operational costs. For patients, it ensures smoother access to healthcare services and quicker reimbursements.
The company plans to use its new funding to expand operation across Tunisia,Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria, while investing in AI tools that can help insurers detect anomalies and optimize risk assessment. SehaTech also intends to build partnerships with both public and private healthcare institutions to strengthen its regional network.
According to SehaTech’s founders, their long-term goal is to “digitize the entire health insurance value chain” and create a unified health data ecosystem across North Africa. By doing so, they hope to drive policy innovation, improve patient outcomes, and promote financial inclusion in healthcare.
As digital transformation accelerates across Africa, SehaTech’s mission reflects a broader shift toward smarter, data-driven health systems. With fresh capital and a growing footprint, the startup is well-positioned to become a key player in shaping the future of health insurance infrastructure across the region.
