African digital infrastructure giant Cassava Technologies has announced an undisclosed strategic investment with NVIDIA, the world leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and computing technology. The deal marks a major milestone for Africa’s tech ecosystem, signaling growing global interest in the continent’s digital transformation and AI potential.
Cassava Technologies, founded by Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa, operates across more than 25 African countries through subsidiaries such as Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Africa Data Centers, and Sasai Fintech. The company has built one of Africa’s most extensive digital backbones — including fiber networks, cloud services, and data centers — to drive connectivity and innovation across the continent.
Through this partnership, Cassava will leverage NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI computing platforms to enhance its cloud infrastructure and introduce advanced AI capabilities across its network. This will enable African businesses, startups, and governments to access powerful AI tools for applications ranging from healthcare and agriculture to financial services and education.
Although financial details were not disclosed, the investment underscores NVIDIA’s growing commitment to emerging markets and its recognition of Africa as a key frontier for AI adoption. For Cassava, it represents a strategic step toward building a continent-wide AI ecosystem that can support research, innovation, and job creation.
According to Masiyiwa, the collaboration aims to “bring world-class AI infrastructure to Africa,” empowering local developers and enterprises to build solutions that address Africa’s unique challenges.
