Airtel Africa has reported a $248 million profit after tax for the nine months ending December 31, 2024, a massive increase from just $2 million during the same period in 2023. The company’s revenue grew by 20.4% to $3.64 billion (in constant currency), driven by the rise in mobile money and data usage. However, currency devaluation in some markets caused a slight drop of 5.8% in reported revenue. Airtel Africa’s customer base grew by 7.9% to 163.1 million, with mobile money and data services showing significant growth. The company’s CEO, Sunil Taldar, attributes this success to improved network coverage, digital transformation, and enhanced customer experience.
