The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed its official grant payment schedule for February 2026, aiming to quell confusion and misinformation circulating on social media. The agency emphasized that beneficiaries should rely on official SASSA channels for accurate information regarding grant disbursements.
According to SASSA, the February payments for social grants, including old age pensions, disability grants, and child support grants, will follow the usual staggered schedule. Payments are set to begin on February 3, 2026, and will continue until February 27, 2026. Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their specific payment dates based on the last digit of their South African ID number.
“This announcement is to clarify any false information that has been circulating online, which may have caused undue panic among our beneficiaries,” SASSA stated in a press release. The agency reiterated that official payment dates are published on its website and social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, and urged the public to disregard unofficial sources.
SASSA also highlighted that all social grants will be paid as usual, and there are no delays or changes to the amounts for February. Beneficiaries who receive grants via the SASSA card or through their bank accounts will be able to access their funds on the scheduled dates. Those collecting their grants at pay points are reminded to bring their valid identification documents to ensure smooth disbursement.
The agency further encouraged beneficiaries to remain vigilant about misinformation, as scams have increasingly targeted vulnerable individuals seeking financial assistance. SASSA advised that any suspicious messages or social media posts claiming changes to the grant payment schedule should be reported immediately.
With over 18 million South Africans relying on social grants, accurate information regarding payment schedules is crucial to prevent unnecessary stress and disruption. By confirming the February 2026 schedule, SASSA aims to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their support promptly and safely, maintaining trust and reliability in the country’s social security system.
