AfriLabs Seeks New Executive Director as Ekeledo Steps Down

AfriLabs, the leading African network of tech and innovation hubs, has officially launched the search for a new executive director following the conclusion of Anna Ekeledo’s tenure. Ekeledo, who has led the organization through significant growth and expansion, will step down after several years of steering AfriLabs’ mission to support technology-driven entrepreneurship across the continent.

During her leadership, Ekeledo oversaw the expansion of AfriLabs’ network to over 300 innovation hubs in more than 50 African countries. Under her guidance, the organization strengthened partnerships with global investors, development agencies, and tech ecosystems, creating opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. Her tenure was marked by initiatives aimed at improving access to funding, mentorship, and capacity-building programs for African innovators.

The organization’s board has emphasized the importance of finding a successor who can continue this trajectory while introducing fresh perspectives. “We are seeking a visionary leader who understands the African tech ecosystem, can foster collaboration across our diverse network, and drive innovative programs that empower startups to thrive,” AfriLabs’ board stated in a press release.

The new executive director will be tasked with navigating the evolving tech landscape on the continent, expanding AfriLabs’ influence, and ensuring that member hubs continue to receive the resources and support needed to nurture entrepreneurial talent. Leadership continuity is seen as critical, as AfriLabs prepares for upcoming initiatives aimed at bridging gaps in funding, technology adoption, and startup development.

Applications for the role are open to individuals with demonstrated experience in technology, innovation, and organizational leadership. AfriLabs has encouraged candidates with a deep understanding of African markets, a passion for entrepreneurship, and the ability to build strategic partnerships to apply.

As the organization transitions into its next chapter, the African tech ecosystem watches closely. AfriLabs’ leadership change represents not just a shift in management but a renewed opportunity to amplify Africa’s innovation potential and ensure that the continent’s startups remain competitive on a global scale.
