Spotify Grows to 761M Users Despite Price Hikes, Adds 293M Paid Subscribers.

Spotify, the famous music streaming company, reported 761 million monthly active users and 293 million premium subscribers in Q1 2026, marking continued growth despite recent subscription price increases across key markets.

The results show that total users rose about 12% year-on-year, while paid subscribers increased roughly 9%, indicating that demand for the platform remained resilient even after multiple rounds of price adjustments in the US and other regions.

Revenue also climbed, supported by higher subscription pricing and steady engagement across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. However, advertising revenue saw some pressure, reflecting uneven performance in the ad-supported segment of the business.

The subscriber growth suggests that price hikes have not significantly slowed conversion to paid plans, especially in mature markets where users are deeply embedded in the ecosystem. Spotify has increasingly leaned on pricing power as a lever for revenue growth, alongside product expansion into video, podcasts, and personalization features.

Overall, the quarter reinforces Spotify’s position as a scaled subscription platform where growth is shifting from pure user acquisition to monetisation depth—driven more by pricing and engagement than rapid expansion in new markets.
