Nokia has selected Egypt as the location for a new regional technology hub, a move aimed at strengthening its presence in the Middle East and Africa as demand for 5G infrastructure accelerates.
The hub is expected to support telecom operators across the region with network deployment, software services, and digital infrastructure solutions, particularly as countries transition from 4G to 5G networks. Egypt’s growing role as a connectivity and digital services gateway made it a strategic choice for expansion.
For Nokia, the investment aligns with its broader push to deepen engagement in high-growth emerging markets where mobile data usage is rising and governments are prioritising digital infrastructure upgrades. The company already supplies network equipment to operators across Africa and the Middle East.
The timing coincides with increasing 5G rollout activity, as telecom operators face pressure to expand capacity for data-heavy services including streaming, cloud computing, and enterprise connectivity. Regional hubs are increasingly seen as critical for reducing deployment time and improving local support for operators.
By anchoring its new hub in Egypt, Nokia is positioning itself closer to one of the fastest-growing digital infrastructure corridors, as competition intensifies among global vendors supplying next-generation telecom networks.
