The startup is addressing a structural problem in African logistics: fragmentation and high costs. Transport expenses across the continent are estimated to be significantly higher than the global average, and South African merchants often face inconsistent service levels and high rates of failed deliveries. Shiprazor’s approach is to centralise this complexity into software that optimises fulfillment decisions in real time. Cape Town-based logistics startup Shiprazor has raised $2.65 million in seed funding to tackle one of South Africa’s most persistent e-commerce challenges: a fragmented and inefficient delivery ecosystem. The round was led by pan-African venture capital firm Norrsken22, with participation from investors including AAIC, E4E, Tremis Capital, and angel investors such as senior Google executives. The raise brings Shiprazor’s total funding to about $3.3 million.
Founded in 2023 by former venture capitalist Sahil Affriya, Shiprazor is building what it calls an “intelligent logistics layer” for online merchants. Instead of retailers managing multiple courier accounts separately, the platform integrates with e-commerce systems like Shopify and WooCommerce and connects businesses to more than 20 courier partners through a single interface. This allows merchants to compare delivery options and automatically route each shipment based on cost, speed, and reliability. Since launch, the company has already processed over 1.5 million deliveries and built a growing merchant base using its platform. The new capital will be used to expand its courier network across South Africa, strengthen coverage in underserved regions, and reduce shipping costs by improving network density.
A key part of Shiprazor’s roadmap is artificial intelligence. The company is developing tools such as address verification systems to reduce failed deliveries caused by inaccurate customer data, one of the most common logistics pain points in the region. Over time, it aims to introduce more advanced automation where merchant systems and delivery networks coordinate with minimal human intervention.
Investors see Shiprazor as part of a broader shift in African e-commerce, where logistics is becoming a core infrastructure layer rather than a back-office function. As online retail grows, platforms that simplify fulfillment and improve delivery reliability are increasingly seen as critical enablers of scale.
With fresh funding and expanding ambitions, Shiprazor is positioning itself to become a foundational logistics platform for South African and broader African e-commerce markets.
