Gabon is preparing to mark a major milestone in its digital transformation journey with the planned launch of its first national data center on June 30. The facility represents a strategic investment in the country’s digital infrastructure and is expected to strengthen data sovereignty, improve public service delivery, and support the growth of the digital economy.
The national data center will serve as a central hub for storing, processing, and managing government and institutional data within Gabon’s borders. Until now, much of the country’s digital information has been hosted abroad, raising concerns around security, data control, and long-term costs. By localizing data infrastructure, Gabon aims to reduce reliance on foreign servers and enhance national control over sensitive information.
