Kenyan innovation hub iHUB has selected 12 promising education technology (EdTech) startups to participate in a new funding programme aimed at supporting innovation and growth within the country’s education sector. The initiative will provide a combined funding opportunity of $100,000 to help selected startups scale their solutions and improve access to quality learning opportunities.
The programme reflects the growing importance of technology-driven solutions in addressing challenges within Africa’s education landscape. With increasing demand for digital learning platforms, online resources, and innovative teaching tools, EdTech startups are playing a critical role in transforming how students, teachers, and institutions access and deliver education.
The 12 selected startups were chosen for their ability to develop creative solutions that address key challenges in education, including accessibility, affordability, skills development, digital learning, and classroom efficiency. Through the programme, the companies will receive financial support as well as access to mentorship, business development resources, and opportunities to connect with industry experts and potential partners.
iHUB, one of Kenya’s leading innovation and technology hubs, has continued to support entrepreneurs and startups by creating platforms that encourage experimentation, investment, and sustainable business growth. The latest funding programme highlights its commitment to strengthening Kenya’s startup ecosystem and supporting entrepreneurs building solutions with social and economic impact.
The funding comes at a time when Kenya’s technology sector is experiencing rapid growth, with startups increasingly leveraging digital tools to solve local challenges. The education sector, in particular, has seen significant innovation as entrepreneurs develop platforms that support remote learning, personalised education, teacher training, and access to learning materials.
For the selected startups, the programme offers an opportunity to expand their operations, improve their products, and reach more learners across Kenya and beyond. The investment is expected to help these companies refine their business models and strengthen their ability to compete in the wider African technology market.
As education systems continue to evolve, initiatives such as iHUB’s funding programme demonstrate the potential of private-sector support in accelerating innovation. By providing resources and guidance to emerging EdTech companies, the programme aims to contribute to a more inclusive and technology-enabled education ecosystem in Kenya.
The selection of the 12 startups marks another step toward building a stronger pipeline of African technology entrepreneurs capable of creating solutions that address real-world challenges while driving economic growth.
