Nigeria’s cybersecurity ecosystem is gaining a new layer of investment as Terra Industries leads a $1 million funding round in Aeon, a Nigerian cybersecurity startup developing infrastructure designed to protect critical digital systems across Africa and the Global South.
The pre-seed round includes participation from Resilience17, the investment firm founded by Flutterwave co-founder and CEO Olugbenga Agboola, alongside DFS Labs, Kaleo Ventures, Seedstars, and Ajim Capital. The investment comes as African organisations face an expanding digital attack surface spanning financial institutions, cloud infrastructure, government systems, and other critical services.
Founded by Samuel Ogbonyomi, Ben Eluan, and Alex Idowu, Aeon emerged from the founders’ experience building cloud infrastructure products at PipeOps. That background helped shape the company’s focus on cybersecurity and digital sovereignty for organisations operating critical infrastructure.
Aeon is developing a product suite that combines network, cloud, code, and endpoint security. Its Aeon Edge product is designed to secure networks and data at the perimeter, while Aeon Console provides an AI-powered platform for monitoring vulnerabilities, managing exposure, and supporting compliance across different parts of an organisation’s technology environment.
The company is targeting a problem that is becoming increasingly difficult for large organisations to manage: fragmented security systems. According to Aeon co-founder and CEO Samuel Ogbonyomi, many operators use numerous security tools without having a unified view of their exposure. Aeon’s approach is to consolidate these security functions so organisations can identify and respond to vulnerabilities from a central platform.
The new funding will support further development of Aeon’s products, business expansion, and the conversion of existing pilots into commercial deployments. The company has already been working with financial services and cloud infrastructure organisations, giving it an opportunity to test its technology in environments where cybersecurity requirements are particularly demanding.
For Terra Industries, the investment extends its focus on protecting critical infrastructure from physical systems into the digital layer. Terra has built products and services around security and autonomous systems, and its partnership with Aeon creates an opportunity to offer customers both physical and cybersecurity capabilities.
The two companies have also established a commercial joint venture following a successful Terra pilot earlier in 2026. Under the arrangement, Terra will focus on physical security while Aeon provides digital and cyber defence capabilities. The partners plan to pursue government and corporate opportunities across the Global South.
The investment reflects a broader shift in how cybersecurity is being positioned within Africa’s technology infrastructure. As more financial, industrial, government, and commercial operations move online, protecting digital systems is increasingly connected to the resilience of essential services.
For Aeon, the $1 million round provides capital and a strategic partnership to expand that proposition. Its longer-term ambition is to build cybersecurity infrastructure tailored to the operational realities and regulatory environments of Africa and other Global South markets.
